The famous Hovis 'Boy on Bike' advert, filmed in 1973, was directed by a then lessser known Ridley Scott .
The boy on the bike, Carl Barlow, then aged 13, returned to Gold Hill in December, 2013 to mark the 40th anniversary of the advert.
Carl, from East London, was at stage school when he won the role. In 1979, he abandoned acting and became a firefighter with the London Fire Service.
This iconic advert has been voted Britain's favourite TV advert of all time.
